Sorry if this is posted any where, but I have to get to bed in a minute.
Is it hard to install a tachometer? I have a huge (I believe it is an HEI) distributor on my 68's 307. The think has about 1/4 from touching the firewall. So, how would I go about installing it, and do I have to know anything about distributors or ignitions?
Thanks

ez you have 4 wires 1 to fuse block to ignition, 1 to ground, one to fues block "lamps", and the other goes to the HEI and plugs right in to the left of the main power wire, it is marked "tach" that's it ez as pie.

Like Chev-hell states it's very simple, the hardest part of the whole process for me was to decide the physical location of the tach. I ended up mounting it right to the steering column with a large black hose clamp.
The tachs come with instructions that tell you exactly which wire goes where.

Can I tap into my stock tach wire and have the original tach and a separate mounted tach working at the same time?
If so does this hold true for the coolant temp and oil pressure? I was planning on changing the senders but wanted to keep the stock ones working too.

Can I mount a tach on my column? I still have the "key lockout" installed. When I put the shifter in reverse, it rotates the column.

Well if I dont mount it on the column, I will be mounting it under the dash next to the ash tray angled toward me.
