Is there any thing wrong with this start up procedure on a new engine? It’s a ZZ4 (355HP).

My big cap HEI has been modified so there is 21º advance built in. The engine runs at 31º for normal performance.

I plan to set the timing at 10º static on the harmonic balancer and the rotor at the number one (1) spark plug on the distributor cap. This should give me 31º static advance, when the engine starts. I will also use a timing light for tuning.

Thanks in Advance
