I am in the process of restoring my car and was wondering
how benificial it was to keep the stock air cover with the bottle neck or if
I could remove it and put on a open element,

It depends on how much you value full throttle performance and noise. If you want more of each, go for the open style of filter.

If you want to keep it stock, keep it on there. If you want performance and sexier looks change it. I say change it.What the heck, it's your car , do it your way.

70 Chevelle,
If you decide to go with the open element air cleaner, keep your old one in a safe place in case you want to go back to original. I made the mistake of tossing out my original one 12 years ago. Now I want it back

Listen to Mr. Jones, he's got it right. DON'T THROW AWAY ANY ORIGINAL PARTS REGARDLESS OF CONDITION UNLESS YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT OEM QUALITY REPLACEMENT IS AVAILABLE. DON'T EVER THROW AWAY A DATE CODED PART. Advertise on www.chevelles.com and give away for shipping cost if necessary.
