Anyone use these in their old or new engines ?
Does it help ? Any opinions ? I saw the lucas display at my local auto parts store and it sure looks like it would help keep those moving parts lubricated.Prolong's claims are almost too good to be true? What do you think ?

IMHO, You are just lining someone else's pockets, most of that stuff is over priced in my opinion and regular oil and filter changes will do wonders for your engine.

The lucas would foam up really bad.
Prolong was sued. The product didn't work as advertised.
If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.

Yeah, "The Oil Guy" will straighten you out. Personally, I'm not a big fan of ANY aftermarket oil additives.
The oil manufacturers do lots of things to insure that all their additives packages work together as a whole. When you stick something aftermarket in, who knows how it will react with what is already there. I have driven lots of engines to 150,000+ mi on normal dino and never had an oil related failure.
I also just put a post up about my girlfriend driving 40 miles with no oil in the crankcase...that was with plain Castrol 10W30.
So my opinion is just use a decent quality oil and filter, change it regularly and keep the engine in tune. You will probably get tired of the car, or it will rust away before the engine goes south.
