Now that it is clean, I used Son of a Gun on my black vinyl hardtop. Do I need to do anything else to help protect it from drying out? I just moved it from CT to the NM desert and want to do what I can.

Anne,
I'd highly recommend keeping it out of the sun as much as possible. If you have to park it outside, get a good cover to help protect it (and your interior) from the intense desert sun.

You can use black vinyl top dressing which contains black dye. Seriously, you can and should use baby oil to keep yor top from drying out. In your case i don't recommend using Armor-All.

I have to agree with Cam in some respects. I don't know about using baby oil, but I recently had my vinyl top redone by a upholstery shop here in Southern California. They recommend that you use nothing to clean the top except mild soap and water. They also don’t recommend using any of those shine products (a.k.a. Armor All) to make it shine. Just keep it clean and natural.
