Went to start her last night, ruh-ruh-click. Charged overnight... click. Stuck another battery in, LOUD starter/flywheel noise, and starter hung. (battery no better than other. Went and got a new 1000 ca/800 cca battery, install. Starts fine, but sounds like it needs a shim or two???

What could have changed???
350 + .060 approx 9.2-9.5 CR, Performer stuff.
Starter still tight, is there enough play in the bolts to change the location enough to become noisy?

Thanks guys!

Are you using actual starter bolts? If you're using standard bolts, there can be too much play like you stated. Also make sure they are straight, not bent.

Had one good original, bought one "Help" starter bolt. Will get under the car today sometime to check/shim. Just very curious that it did this all at once.

Appreciate it man!
