Some of the aftermarket coils claim 25% more energy than stock or 40k volts. What is the life span of a set of points with the hotter coil compared to a stock coil? What is the average output of a stock coil? Is the added energy wasted if its going through a 7mm wire? I've got an all original car that I want to look original and I have not heard many people say they were happy with the convertion kits. I'm looking for starting and mpg improvements.

Hey Marty,

There was just a post about the Mallory Unilite conversion kit, and the feedback was positive. I used them as well. and would highly recommend them for the ease of making the conversion and how reliable they are. I ran one in a 73 El Camino for 4 years, had another one in the engine that just came out of my Chevelle. Give one a try, you can throw out the dwell meter forever.
