Getting my exhaust put on today and can't decide whether to put an H pipe, or X pipe, or crossover pipe, or whatever you call it. My BB 408 puts out between 450 and 500 HP. What's everyone's opinion?
FYI: I'm going with 3" pipe.

In my opinion an X pipe is the best. It boosts your power, and quiets the exhaust. GO here:

Look for Andrew Borodin video clips. There are 2 of them. That will give you a good idea of how it sounds. I have a 502 in my GTO with a 3.5 inch to 3 inch x pipe and Straightline performance mufflers.

There might be a ever-so-slight performance gain with an X-pipe over an H-pipe,for the price difference I went H-pipe, and with my car there is no difference between open headers or thru the exhaust. I might add that I'm using 3" exhaust pipe, dynomax ultraflo welded ovals with dumps at the rearend.

X-pipe will be the quietest and most efficient (and most powerful) of those options.

As i mentioned in another post here. I fabbed up a H pipe system from extra pipe I had laying around and had my muffler shop weld it in for 20 bucks. Does it sound different? Maybe Does it help seat of the pants performance? No. Does it make the weenies take a second look at my stuff when its up on the rack? YES That was worth the half hour and 20 pesos. Also a heck of alot cheaper than a Dr Gas X pipe.
