Being from up north , I only drive my ss396 from March thru October . I store it in the winter months. Redliners don't take well to snow or ice .
Could I get away without a choke ? The coldest outside temp would be 45 degrees . I always warm the car up before driving .

I have a stock one on my 66ss and I still have to sit and touch the pedal till it warms up. Big blocks tend to be a little cold natured.

only drive mine from april to nov but that includes many 30-40 deg mornings here in MN and I never need a choke, in fact I don't even have one since I put the proform main body on. I have to feather the gas for a minute or 2 before it will idle on its own when its cold but it starts right up every time.

Do not have one on my 68 with a 350 topped by a 750dp holley.
Like most performance engines it is cold blooded and I have to keep my foot on the gas to hold her over 1000 rpm until she warms up a little.
Once it hits about 150 degrees she will idle on her own.
I would like to have one for convenience but I purchased the car this way and she runs great. The old cliche "if it aint broke don't fix it" fits well in this case.
