I have a distributor #1111109 Date code 5L1 (Nov 65). It is cast iron. The Chevrolet by the Numbers book says that this should be a aluminum unit. Were the 66 396/325 distributors aluminum or cast iron? Thanks, Rick

Rick:
I don't know if that year is aluminum or cast but the number you listed is the correct dist number for a 66 396/325.

Rick,
I don't have the part # handy, however, my 66 is a 396/360. It has the orig. dist with the correct part #. The Chev. Numbers book also says this should be an aluminum unit but it is cast. This car was built in dec. 65 and most parts have a cast date of nov. 65. Hope this helps. David.

The GM parts catalogue listed this 1111109 distributor for your 396-325hp. The same housing was used on all V8 Chevies that year. It would be stamped for the specific application when the distributor was built.
