: Can I have it all?

I am building a cruiser and have several
possible engine combination options.
1. 1968 327/275 (needs rebuild)
2. 1986 305 low mileage - drop in
or 3. 1986 305 with the 327(194 valve)heads

The car will not be a racer BUT I would like it to pull good to 5000/5500 rpm.
Will see light towing - 2000 lb. single
axle trailer.
Gas mileage is very important.Gas is expensive up here in the North.
Is it impossible to get all this from one engine ? What's the best combination to acheive this ? What would be the best cam to
acheive these goals ?
Thanks,
Ron D.

well - whats your budget? a solid roller cam and EFI would help http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Throw the 305 crank in the 327 - you got a 350, get some good heads, EFI and a full solid roller valvetrain and your set. Will pull from 2k - 6500 and give ya 350+hp all while getting decent mileage.

Thanks Dreamer. Don't want to spend a lot of $ other than basic rebuild, cam purchase and
minor expenditures. Don't want efi - would rather run quadrajet and will run 700r4 or
4r200 (I have both) and have 3.55,
3.23, or 2.75 rears.

Forgot to mention - I'm pretty sure the 305
was a one piece seal crank in '86 Parissiene
