I've purchased a used complete AC system at a swap meet. THe tubing has been cut and duct taped over, but by now they are open. Will this cause me difficulty due to air/moisture in the lines? Or d I have to simply evacuate and refill with Freon?

You difinitely will need to evacuate it for maybe 2hrs and get a new dryer. Don't forget to add oil, maybe 1-2oz. Turn it on and see how well it works.
