Would a steering box from an '86 IROC bolt into and function properly in an '81 El Camino? Thanks for the help!

Yes you may have to use your old end plug. I just got an 87 f-body 12-1 steering gear that i am going to put in my 84 El Camino.

The 1 main thing to remember the pitman arm stays with the car that is if the car has power steering now if it is a conversion from manual to power you will need one for a power steering box for that model car.Check this site www.azonline.com/~jimmy (http://www.azonline.com/~jimmy) ...FRED

Thanks for the link to my web page for steering gear swaps Fred, but you got the address wrong. Here is the correct address.

azonline.com/~jimmy (http://azonline.com/~jimmy)

no www in the address.

Rick, that gear should bolt up and function fine. As Robert said, use your old end cap to maintain your original stops. Good Luck.
