We are getting ready to put new carpet ibn my son's 67 chevelle, How do you remove the gas pedal to allow the carpet to go underneath? Thanks again.

The two bolts on the bracket on the firewall side hold the exterior portion, I think there are two more bolts in the floor that hold the pedal.

If your son's 67 is stock, then the gas pedal should just pop off two studs that are screwed into the floor pan. The heel end of the pedal pops into those studs and nothing else is attached to the pedal. The backside toe end of the gas pedal rests on the gas linkage that attaches through the firewall to the carburetor. The new carpet probably will not have holes for the gas pedal studs, so you will probably have to measure real well and make new holes in the carpet for the studs. That’s it.

Slime; (I like that handle). When you make a cutout for anything, start with a slit and don't remove any of the carpet until you're absolutely sure. Made this mistake right at my gas pedal and had to put a piece back on, not easy. tom
