I'm getting ready to check pushrod length on my 402 BBC and was wondering if the "felt marker" method will also work with stock rocker arms. Most of the posts I've seen deal primarily with roller rockers.

I recently switched from roller tip rockers to some severe duty stock style rockers. The wear pattern with the roller tips was perfectly centered on the valve stem but I thought I'd double check with the stamped rockers.

I noticed that the wear pattern using the stamped rockers is centered (intake to exhaust), but is either to the front or back of the engine.

Yes, it'll work but the mark might look a little different. main thing is that some reasonable facsimile of being across the middle of the top of the stem.
