First:
What horsepower output did the "stock" 350 have in a 71 malibu? (Automatic 350)
Second:
Aftermarket hedders,what kind? price range $100-$150
Third:
Valve cover's, tall or short?
Fourth:
Air cleaner, what size? I have a domed cowl hood.

I would like the valve cover's and the air cleaner to be chrome. The hedders I prefer black.

I'm getting these hp figures out of the encyclopedia of American cars so i hope they are right. If not someone will chime in with corrections.

350/ 2 barrel 245hp
350/ 4 barrel 270hp
It doesn't have torque values

Headers my first set was a set of hedman and they cost about a hundred bucks. My problem was that they didn't stay black for more than a few minutes after crank up.

With the valve cover question you can run either one but you will be limited to the short valve covers if you have factory ac and you are leaving the factory compressor brace that goes over the valve cover from the intake.

As far as air cleaner clearance i have a 6 inch K&N on my 72 with a cowl hood and a performer rpm

It helps alot, I still have a/c but i'm thinking of taking it off. What in your opinion looks better, tall or short valve cover's?

well mine is a factory ac car but i disconnected it. If i remember right you are in Va. Does your ac work? because you might need it in the summer. I spent a summer at Ft eustis for bncoc so i know it gets a little hot there.

I'm stationed at Ft. Lee, and the a/c according to the guy I bought it from doesn't work, all it needs is "Charging" he said.
Yeah it gets pretty hot here and I could take the chance and charge it. Thanks
