I've gotta 71 chevelle and I'm runnin a 400 bored 30 over and it's an everyday driver. I'm 16 and I'll drive it alot. Anyways, I bought an electric fan for a couple of reasons, free up a tad of hp and how it looks I guess. But, I bought a rapid cool fan and it pushes like 1,250 cfm. I was told I need about 2,900. It's 14 in diameter and 13 1/2 long. So should I mount two of them as pullers since itll fit or what? I think I'll need to get a new altenator too. Like a 105 amp cause I'll be putting some electronics in it. But with my setup, what should I do? Run two fans and get a bigger altenator or what? All your help and opinions are appreciated! Oh yeah, can I remove my fan shroud if I put two fans or what? Thanks!

I tried the electric fan route on my 70,I actually mounted them in front of the rad. While this looked great and gave you lots of room up front they were always a pain in the a$$. Now I use a heavy duty clutch fan with the shroud and a 4 core rad, no problems and you do not have to run wires all over the place and worry about the thermostate working. The only time the clutch engages is during heavy traffic, don't need the HP then anyway.

I would stay away from an electric fan for an everyday driver. Too much of a chance to fail in a bad spot when you don't need it. Maybe an electric along with a regular belt driven fan.

If you really want electric fans check my signature under 502 pic number 3. They are Spal dual 11 inch fans that pull about 2700cfm and come with the shroud and flapper valves for high speed. The kit also comes with relays and wiring. Be Cool radiators carry them.

Take a look in my signature. I run the Windstar fans with no problems. I did upgrade to a 10SI alt (it worked until the battery got thrown in the trunk) and now run a CS130 alt.

I did the same as 72SSAbody.
Winstar fans on my daily driver with the CS-130 conversion. No problems over the past year. You can wire both fans up or each one separate depending on what you want.

Chev-hell is running them on his BB in texas with no problems. The Winstar and the Mark-V both pull around 4-5000 CFM.

You can see my installation on this link http://home1.gte.net/res096qi/71elky.htm

and Johns info can be seen at http://hometown.aol.com/jnkb2cool/fans.html

You can also get the Spal dual fan set up with a chrome shroud. Sure does look perty.
