Hello, smile.gif

I am thinking of dropping in a 96-00 Vortec 350
in my 1966 Malibu,I have the original motor(327)
but I want all the advanteges of a late model engine I can get a vortec 350 for 800-1300 with
computer & harness, compressor, etc. I am not sure if a tranny is included with price. But my question
is what else do I need to do the conversion.

Thanks graemlins/thumbsup.gif

At least a higher pressure fuel pump (electric) and return line to the tank. You may need to have the computer reworked to disable the anti-theft feature. 96 and up FI is a bit more complicated than earlier due to OBDII so there may be more to it than I mentioned.

Your will need the 4L60E trans since the OBDII computer will enter limp mode if it doesnt get feedback from the trans.

You'll need a high pressure fuel pump, return line and baffle the fuel tank. You will also need the cats or at least the O2 sims that will trick the computer. Plus all the obvious problems with the cooling system and power steering etc. Also, the oil pan may be a problem.

I'm doing two camaro's right now, one with a 95 7.4 and the other with a 97 5.7, I'm not finished so I dont have all the answers yet.

Check on www.Impalassforum.com (http://www.Impalassforum.com)
Brian Herter can reprogram you PCM to obd1 standards plus other programming so you wont have to use a 4l60e or 4l80e trans. You will need o2 sensors (only 2)
Cooling issues I cant think of any as long as the radiator hoses hook up.
It's not a LT1 so oil pan and accy clearances shouldn't be an issue
