I ask because I was thinking about keeping an eye out for a 70's model Impala/Monte Carlo/Malibu/Truck that came from the factory with a big block. If possible I was wanting to use the engine plus both the top and the bottom motor mounts and install the combo into my small blocked '71 Chevelle.
Also if I retain the stock TH350 that's in the Chevelle now and install the big block will I run into any issues? Or will the big block just drop right in the small blocks place with no mods?

as far as the trans it will bolt up. as for the motor mounts. they are not all the same 67 and older are different. the monte 70-72 should fit because they use the same frame as the 70-72 chevelle. the frame mounts and motor mounts are the same for big block to small block from 68-72. atleast that's what OPG has listed. WWW.OriginalPartsGroup.Com (http://WWW.OriginalPartsGroup.Com) has the motor mounts for $10 each so i would just buy new one's.

So you're saying I could reuse the small block motor mounts (both halves) on the big block??
BTW I'm kinda keeping a look out for a '70-'76 Impala, or a '73-'75 Malibu/Monte or even a '73-? Chevy truck with a 454 as for some reason these seem to be cheaper (probably due to smog era stuff) but will check into any good big block. Preferbly running of course.

The 350 block mounts are the same as the BBC mounts.
Not sure about the 327, but the 307 and down used a different mount.

What about the frame mounts? Do 350 and big blocks use the same frame mounts?

On the Chevelles anyway, they're the same frame mounts in the 350 and up.
Didn't realize that Impalas were different, so thanks to 66 ss!
