Hey gko,
Try search feature of this site to find past posts. (Al deserves a big well done for that feature).

You might want to try Holley. They offer a rebuild/refurbish service for all carbs, including Q-Jets. I don't recall the exact price, but it seemed reasonable. Maybe someone else can give you the number - they're somewhere in Tenn.

You're half right about Holley. They will replate your carb and do a beautiful job, BUT, their prices went from $33.00 to over $120.00 to replate a Quadrajet. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif I think the EPA must have gotten involved. That's a pretty hefty price hike! They did a carb for me that is sitting in the garage, but before the price hike.

I think I remember the post you're talking about but I can't find it either. However I think the place you are talking about is the Carb Shop here in CA!? I can get the number for you if this is the shop you were thinking of.

yes, i found it in calif, and one in jersey.
the carb shop wants 200 to 250. that's steep, since it doesn't match the car, and i can buy a new one for equal with less worry.
boy have i been down this road before. "buy new or used.."
thanks for the help
