does anyone know what type of heater hoses
that are used on a70 big block w/o ac are they a smooth hose or ribbed and is there
any lettering on hoses. who makes a good
aftermarket?

non-original is the smooth type. ribbed is the original type. your best bet would be a GM reproduction one.

Our sponsor, Ground Up, will have what you are looking for. OPG also, has them. I got very nice upper and lower GM-stamped radiator hoses from the latter for my '70.
