I got my 454 tuned in and the idle set
i was running a 850 dp and with my set upit turned out that a 3310 750 holley was a better carb for me,well it feels a little stronger wheni hit the gas, it idles to me fine and not a strong smell of gas but when i hit the gas and rev it up
man eyes burn all around. and exhaust smoke can be seen floating around the shop
what is going on ? and what should i look in to
correct it, now on start up the i get a one or two small back fires then it warms up and its fine it will not back fire when reving the motor
ever now and then if i keep hit the gas to rev and rev i'll get a back fire (like to hear the mufflers sing)

Have you driven the car yet? check the plugs now, clean them up or replace them, then drive it and then check the plugs and see what they look like. Gas soaked? Black and sooty? if so, change the primary jets down 2 sizes smaller and see again.

btw, whats your combo? I just put together a 454 that we were going to use an 850dp on, but bought a 3310 750 vac sec because it didn't look like we were getting the 850 back from the shop any time soon. Just broke in the cam last night. No black smoke when we rev it, no backfires. We will pull it out of the shop tonight and test drive it. This is a new 3310 carb from holley and is using the stock jetting from holley. Just wondering how similar our combos are.
