Hello,I have a 350/330 hp crate engine. It has 700 miles on it.Problem is when I first fire up.. no smoke, run it for 20-30 miles, shut it off for a while,a puff of bluesh gray smoke. My son drove behind me and at different rpms ..no smoke. Sounds like valve guide seals?Pvc?Rings?Does'nt use any oil.I put in 30wt non det. After initial oil change. Some one said to put in an additive.. EOS said it will help rings seat.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks graemlins/clonk.gif

TS,
Before you do anything, I would call whoever built the engine and ask them what to do. If you have a warranty, you need to follow thier instructions, nobody else's. My first question would be why the 30w oil ? I would have used a good quality 10w30 or whatever the engine manufacturer recommended after breakin. I would also put a few more miles on it and see what it does, although the rings should be seated in almost at startup. YOu may want to pull the pcv hose of at the end away from the valve and see if there is any oil in it, but "normally" a pcv problem will cause smoke all the time, not just at startup. It could be valve seals, but shouldn't be on a new engine.
Call the engine builder !!!!
