I bought the street fuel pump from edlebrock. I've heard recently that they have a problem leaking oil because of the bolts that hold it together. Is this a big problem, and is there anything I can do before I install it to prevent this? TIA graemlins/beers.gif

It's only a problem if it happens to you and it did happen to me. It blew oil all over my new ceramic coated headers and made a big mess. The pump was new but I had had it on the shelf until the 90 day warranty expired before I put on my car. It only had about 5 hours on it when it went. I put on a Carter 120 gph pump and no more problems. The Edelbrock looked better than the Carter and I always have good luck with their other components, but no more fuel pumps from them for me.

Now that is not what I wanted to hear, I just bought 3 pumps. :( I hope they don't die on me.

I have had the Edelbrock street mechanical fuel pump on my 396 for several years (3.5+ years) and I have never seen any sign of oil leakage...
I have never even heard of the pump leaking oil until now...
I cannot believe any company, especially one such as Edelbrock, would not have redesinged the pump by now IF there truly was a problem with the pump...
Not saying there might not have been problems, but more likely isolated incidents, IMO...

Same problem here...BBC Edelbrock pump...blew oil all back on my headers but only during higher RPMs. Oil was coming out the pump housing flange gasket. Fixed problem by changing to Holley pump.
Do a search...commom problem that's been brought up before. :(
