I'm assembling an L89 tripower for a '67 SS396 ( soon to be SS427!) and need a "stock" distributor. I'll run the Pertronix ignitor inside a standard Chevy distributor, but what's the best source for a new, 7000 rpm capable stock unit?

I use the corvette cast iron vacuum advance tach drive units. It is more than capable of the rpm and I use the Mallory unilte modules rather than points.

Wally, any source for fresh/rebuilt units? I was thinking of using the Pertronix ingnitor.

My opinion:
Anything that fits is OK as long as you customize the vacuum and mechanical advance curves to something like the original specs.
Original '69 L89 mechanical adv. spec.
0 deg @ 900 rpm
2 deg @ 1100 rpm
30 deg @ 3800 rpm
Vac. Adv. Spec.
0 deg @ 8" vac
15 deg @ 15.5" vac
Part number 1111927
This was a GM transistorized unit with a mech. tach. drive.
