: !!! Oil Guage Hookup problems 454
feedphillipnow Mar 7th, 05, 8:59 PM I have a misc post in performance with some bites but its somewhat gotten off subject so here is my problem/ Question:
I know of people running brass/copper line from the guage above the oil filter and in the front driver side corner of the block. I am having problems with all the ports except the one right smack in middle of the top of the oil filter. I have a couple other ports, I beleive this one I can reach easily is for an oil cooler line? My neighbor said I shouldnt use it, but he drives Fords.... should I not? Im having big time problems with this... somewhat "easy task"
EddieC67ss Mar 7th, 05, 9:27 PM Run it from the port closest to the firewall.
feedphillipnow Mar 7th, 05, 9:38 PM The port closest to the firewall above the oil filter? I have 3 ports, the 3rd one I beleive doesnt go all the way through, clutch linkage or something? Ive wasted 2 days looking for a place and stripping fittings trying to get them out :(
EddieC67ss Mar 7th, 05, 10:24 PM Above the oil filter.
feedphillipnow Mar 8th, 05, 2:08 AM There are more than one...
Bob West Mar 8th, 05, 8:37 AM there is just ONE dead center above the oil filter,,,Hey Phil, I know its been said before,,,buy a BOOK!!!
quikss Mar 8th, 05, 2:51 PM Mine is above the oil filter as well Phil, it has a larger angled fitting then my oil line into that. It is kind of a pain to get to but no worse than the tranny bolts. Wish i could tell you more but I'm at work now. I do believe the port faces straight out to the drivers fender, which would make it the large center one.

ben70 Mar 8th, 05, 3:00 PM Mine is in the side of the rear of the block, driver's side, behind the cylinder head. I ditched the stock sender.
johnny69 Mar 8th, 05, 3:22 PM if it helps i ran mine from drivers side front lower on block ran my gauge and my stock dash electrical gauge with stock sender, made a tee works fine....good luck
feedphillipnow Mar 8th, 05, 3:48 PM I do have many books! Gosh ;) Well all blocks dont have the same holes, Ive checked alot of buddys big blocks and some at my work, some have 1 some have 3, I think some had 2 also. The book didnt really help me and Ive heard so many different things about these holes, I'll just use the big hole in the dead center.
Johnny, Craig on here runs his like that too, I want to do that but the little square fitting got stripped and im sick of fighting it to come out!
I guess if we all had a big arse stack of BOOKS we could do away with this web site? Any one got a good book about which books I need? Books are nice, but it is nice to be able to ask about what's been read. I do have a Bookie, know's nothing about Chevelle's!
EddieC67ss Mar 8th, 05, 9:02 PM Well I just looked at an LS6 motor I have. There are three places above the oil filter. Looking at the drivers side: Far right is for the clutch, Center is large plug, left for oil pressure line. The two bolt block I think has two. Far right for clutch center for gauge.
