I don't have the history on the oil pump out of the big block I bought. Should I go ahead and replace the pump? Is there some sort of test I should do to see if it needs replaced? How would I know if I need to or not? Thanks..

It is basically the heart of the engine if you scrimp now you may suddenly die later. I would go ahead and put in a new pump.
