My 72 Monte has 4 wheel disc brakes. They were on the car when I bought it.They look like a stock replacement with single piston calipers.Since the Monte has a lot of front wheel well, could I pick a 15" wheel with an offset that pushs the wheel outward more and give me room for larger disc brakes. If not will an upgrade to Baer brakes with a 2 piston caliper make a big improvement in braking?I will have a set of skinnies for the front, but I don't want to be married to them.
Thanks

I ordered the 2 piston Baer calipers that mount in the factory location just two days ago BUT I don't think you will see much if any performance upgrade from this change alone. There is supposedly more braking force being applied to the rotor with the 2 pistons but unless you increase your rotor size performance will not likely change. I don't think the offset change will help you much either as you are going to be limited by the 15" wheel hoop. I think the 2 piston Baers are largely cosmetic.

You're probably right.I wouldn't mind a 17"or 16" wheel for the street, but I want to use a 15" rear for the track. It would look kinda weird.Maybe a good performance pad with Hydroboost would make a difference.

You could always upgrade the front to a 12 or 13" rotor and run 17" wheels if you wanted and do a factory style rear upgrade that still allows 15" wheels to fit. The front does most of the stopping anyway and I don't think it would look completely out of place. I believe Wilwood and Baer both make a rear disk kit that should still allow the use of a 15" wheel.

I was considering that.I could run 17s all round for the street and 15s at the track. The problem would be finding a tall 17" tire for the street.I need a 30" or taller tire.C4 or C5 brakes would be nice.
Thanks
