: Valve cover breather smoke..

I'm sure all of you are getting sick of my posts, but I've just had my engine rebuilt after 5 years, and I want to get it running well. There is something wrong with cold startup, but I have another concern.. that is more engine than troubleshooting I'd say, since there is nothing really wrong.
It the the exact same engine except for camshaft (smaller) and CR (higher).
On the drivers side of the car, I run a PCV to the bottom of the carb. On the other valve cover, I run a straight breather.
This sounds sort of silly, almost inconsequential. But I don't recall seeing visible amounts of smoke at almost all times from the breather in the pre-rebuild. The motor appears to run very strong, although, it only has 25 miles on it.
Should I expect alot of smoke from here? Or is it a possibile indication of something gone awry?

Best Regards,
Matt (PS: if you like carbs, see my post in troubleshooting..) I want an accel DFI to hit me in the head..

Matt, did your machinsit use a HV oil pump? I'm not sure if its just this motor or mine, but woith the HV there was always a swirly mist of oil under the covers. Now, not so noticeable with the standard vol pump.

Do you have the correct PCV valve and make sure the hose doesn't collapse.

I checked my parts list and it is a HV pump. The PCV is working correctly, and the hose appears to be fine.
So I take it this is nothing to get worked up about, right?

Thanks..

Matt

Matt,if your PCV checkes out ok then dont worry just yet, your motor only has 25 miles on it and the smoke from your valve cover/s is very likely blowby caused by your rings not seated yet.

My machinest told me that rings like speed pro plasma moly's can take 1k-2k to fully seat like were used in my 396. The blowby in my motor has diminished a lot from the intial startup last month to now with 700 miles on it so wait a little bit to see how it does after you put some miles on it.
