Hello,

Being a big block fan I've decided to install a crate 502 in my 66 Malibu. I was wondering if anyone out there has done this and what problems might I run into? What should I stay away from and look for while doing this? Will the oil pan that comes with the motor work or will I need something different? I plan on changing the power glide to a T56.. Any tips on this will be welcomed and thanks. graemlins/waving.gif

It's pretty much any big block install, except the oil pan that comes on the crate motor will not work on a chevelle. Also, my Gen VI did not have a fuel pump boss so I needed an electric. I would change the timing chain to a dual roller (like a Cloyes) and buy the Sharifoff timing chain cover for added insurance.

You should test fit your headers to the engine with it on a stand.
My 502 uses head bolts that are taller then the older style.
I had to trim the header flange at each bolt.
