I was just wondering, as a not very savvy engine guy, if it was bad to run the engine or to drive without a flywheel dust cover?

Thanks for any responses,

They are good to run with. I have run for a year though without one before, no ill effects.

In the great state of MD, the car won't pass safety inspection without one.

Are they worried someone will crawl under the car and turn the motor with a screwdriver or something?

What are the possible safety problems of not running one?

I feel for you guys out in MD. You have politics and regulations right up there, if not exceeding that of California and that should scare you.
