Here's What me and my brother are atempting:
2 years ago he bought a 82 GMC Cabalerro down in tennesse (great body no rust at all)
Made it the 1500 miles back to Massachusetts, By the time it got up here it was fouling the plugs with so much oil in about 50 miles of driving, It has a 267 v8 in it that hasn't run in a year.
So what we are atempting is to swap a 307 from a 69 Camaro into the Cabalerro, And would like to hook back up the computer controled distrbuter and carb onto the 307, First of al would the ECM have any problems with a 307? or are ECM's for v8's difrent for every displacement?
Also, Can we use the flexplate and starter?
I know it would be easy just to go and get rid of all computer controled items but nither of us has the moeny for that.

Any advice would be appreciated

swap over the intake, dist, motor mount brackets and carb and it should be pretty much a bolt in. Come back here if you have problems.

HeY, Thanks for the input, Just doulble checking but did the 307 and 267 use the same size fly wheel?
Before I get going on this I need to tap 2 broken bolts where the water pump bolts up.

Also who ever had it before replaced the exhuast and got rid of the cataletic converter, But it still had a smog sensor in it, We were planning to install headers and dual exhuast, So will there be any performance or gas mileage problems with out the emissions hooked up?

No, but dont y'all have the 'sniff' test up there. I had to rig my girlfriend's 76 Fury to pass emmissions in MA.

If your smog test is on the dyno ( Rollers ), you will need the Catylitic converter to pass. You should be able to pick one up cheap. You may have to have an exhaust place cut the exisiting pipe and weld a flange on to be able to bolt it up. Or, hook everything else up and try to go through the test and see what happens. Smog legal headers for that car run about $310 ( Edelbrock ). Make sure you give a good tune up before you go for the test.

HeY, I'm not 100% sure about this, But to my knowledge any veichle 20 years and older in massachusetts is smog exempt, I have a 72 chevelle and they didn't even atempt to check the smog.
I don't know what the smog laws are in tennesse buit it was on the road down there and passed with out a cataletic converter, So I guess just cross my fingers and hope I can get out of it with out having to spend to much extra.

Also I dread having to take the transmission out to swap the engine would it be easyer just to un bolt it from the bell housinjg and leave the trans attached to the car, Or would that just give me more work in headaches in the long run?
