hey guys, need a little advice.
found a BBC in the paper and talked to the guy on the phone says the numbers are:

3619159
GMT12
H.Pr

says he thinks that its a '78 block but doesn't know for sure.
says that there is actually "H Pr" or something like that (cast or stamped) on the motor too. did they ever actually do this??? and if so what does it actually designate???
looked up the number on Mor-Tech, found 361959.....454.......73-90...2 or 4 bolt
assuming that he just misread the number and added an extra 1 b/c i cant find the other number.
says its a fresh rebuild and is sitting in his garage and hence not running. what do you guys think, he wants $600 ($900CND)
thanks from a potential first big block owner

Every 454 I've built had the H Per stamping on the block, I believe it was inside the timing chain area.

I only see a 361959 listed in the book,if its a correct 1978 block-it would be a light duty(2 bolt main) truck motor, the 361959 block was made for passenger cars from 1973 to 1976,trucks from 1975 to 1985.the price is not bad graemlins/thumbsup.gif

UPDATE:
went to go see the motor past night, it was the 361959 number block. its all there but the guy knows nothing at all about it, he figures that its been rebuilt simply b/c someone sprayed a fresh coat of orange on it before selling it. says that it had a cracked harmonic balance on it that he had replaced. is this a bad sign? a good sign that somthing might be wrong with the crank too?
other numbers on it included: E2 78 (1978???) and PASS (passeger car??? was there a passenger car 454 in 78?)
i offered him $600.00(CND) b/c i figued that he would take it, guess i was wrong, gave him my number and said call me if he changes his mind but now its me that want to call him back. do you guys still thinks its ok at $900(CND) it seems very buyer beware.

oh yeah, the thing that worries me most is that it was a bone yard that sold it too him. i just dont want to be stuck with a cracked block with smoger heads (which i assume the heads are anyhow) and be out $900 that could have gone to somthing with more potential.
