: Holley Dominator ECU - datalogging
BlownYenko Nov 30th, 11, 8:15 AM Does the Dominator ECU constantly run it's datalogging? I'm assuming that it runs non-stop in the background, simply saving the most recent 2Gig of data and dropping off the oldest data beyond 2Gig?
The reason I ask is that I've just seen a screen shot of the LCD touchscreen and it has "Start Log" and "Stop Log" buttons in the datalogging screen.

I've never used that software, but all of the others I have used are turned on and off via keys. They don't run all the time. You have to start the log and stop it. The length of time you can log for depends on the particular manufacturer. You can then name and save the file to go back and make changes to your tune.

If there is a "Start Log" and a 'Stop Log" button, then why would you think that it logs continuously? Clearly with the mentioned buttons you can control when to start and when to stop the log. It will stop logging once it hits the 2 gig limit, which is probably two days of logging..LOL

BlownYenko Nov 30th, 11, 11:27 AM Jody - my Motec ECU in another car datalogs whenever the engine is running.
Andrew - the manual buttons are on the optional LCD touchscreen. It seemed reasonable that the ECU logs constantly, but the optional touchscreen with it's own memory card might have it's own manual logging facility. This could be used to manually log an extremely high sample rate on the touchscreen for a drag race, while the ECU keeps logging it's less detailed sample rate while you're driving back along the return road, warming up in the pits or cruising the street.

never used Motec. All the ones I've used are manual logging. I've done Fast, BigStuff 3, Accel, Mefi4, HP Tuners, EFI Live, SCT Racer Pro, and probably others I can't think of now.
To answer your question I'd go to the source. One of the Holley EFI engineers is the moderator on this forum (Doug F). He will know for sure.
