I have a 6-71 set up on my small block with a short water pump pulley set up. Currently, the upper radiator hose goes thru the running alternator belt which I don't like.
At the swap meet this weekend, I spotted another SBC/6-71 set up with a short water pump and a factory GM alternator bracket I have never seen before. It's a lot better set up than I have now. I've tried the lower alt brackets and it dosn't work in my 60 El camino's engine bay. I've also tried other custom brackets and they don't work either.
The bracket I saw was cast iron, mounted on the driver's side head. It had two bolt holes attaching to the two upper accesory bolt holes, (just below the valve cover) and had a 'Y' boss for the pivot mount of the alternator. It had a GM cast into as well as a # but I couldn't make it out. Does anyone know what this bracket is off of?
