" To the Point " I replaced the rear gasket on my intake now going on 3x's with the gasket that comes in the kit and just RTV Blue graemlins/sad.gif This is a 72 454 with a Holly 174 CFM Blower, I cannot get the oli to stop leaking / collecting on the top portion of my engine block. I have looked high and low for other potential leaks, just making sure oil isn't being sprayed from someplace else, and am stuped graemlins/clonk.gif I was told that the blower making the additional pressure needs more than one valve cover " blow off ", and since I only have one the air is forced to go some where, is this true ???? I plan one taking the intake off again this week and trying to fix it one more time, should I add additional breathers ???

I never use the gasket for the rear; just silicone only, a bead maybe 1/4" high or so. Make sure the block and manifold are clean and oil-free. Use Acetone or brake cleaner to wipe the surfaces. This goes for the front seal also on the manifold. Let it set-up overnight before starting the engine.

Other potential areas include the distributor gasket, valve covers, and there is an oil pressure fitting in the rear of the block on the drivers side near the top.

Another thing you can do, of course after you fix the leaks, is to fab a sort of 'surge' tank affair with each valve cover plumbed to a tank that has a baffled breather on it. (Top fuel and funny cars use such a system) This will keep the residue off the valve covers,etc. With street pressures and a tight engine, you shouldn't really need this though. Good valve covers with baffled breathers should work.

I'm not sure about a BB, but did you put thread sealent on the mainfold bolts. On a SB, the bolts go through to the valley and oil can migrate up the treads.
