Whats the widest tire anyone has under their 65-67 chevelle without cutting (stretching is OK). I have BFG 27560R15's on mine and would like to fit the fattest tire possible, like some 295's possible. If anyone has a bigger tire or cheater slick let me know the rim size/backspace and if any "massaging" of the wheelwell was needed.

I have a 295 50 15 with a 4 1/2 backspacing
I had to cut out the inner lip on the wheel well. and still stretch lip out a little too.
the problem with a 15 rim is too much backspacing hits the lower shock mount.
with a 17 inch(maybe even16) u get a lot more backspacing so I think u can go a lot more than a 295 if you get a 17.

PS 295 50 15 is really tall. if u are going to keep a small size on the front I would try to get a 45 series tire
