: membership renewal and Fraud
Bigdogss Nov 13th, 11, 9:13 PM just wanted to give a heads up to everyone. last night i renewed my TC membership with a lifetime renewal, i made my payment thru paypal. today i received an email that appeared to be from paypal saying that my membership didnt go thru and the charge to my credit card failed. it wanted me to click on a link and try again with the same or new credit card info.. now i know this is trying to get my info but this is the first time its happened with any purchase ive made thru paypal. and i do a lot of on line buying. so if the fishing email isnt on paypals end then its on autoforums end which doesnt make me feel any better.
anyone else have this problem when renewing with autoforum thru pay pal??
Mike Nov 13th, 11, 9:17 PM First I've heard of this and will forward to our Administrator but I suspect it's on the Paypal end.
Also moving this to 'site discussion'.

LevonH Nov 13th, 11, 9:38 PM Hi Jeff. did you report it to Paypal?
Mike Nov 13th, 11, 9:42 PM Would be nice to see the expanded header (http://www.google.com/search?q=expanding+email+headers&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a) for that e-mail.
It'll tell where it originated -no don't post it here.
If you still have the e-mail ,send it with the header expanded to spoof@paypal.com
No problem on where you posted ,just get's more traffic from the Mod's here.

troposcuba Nov 14th, 11, 12:16 AM not to mention if you just log in to your account on paypal, it will tell you the status of your account (you will find it has not been locked as the spoof emial says) and you should have any control you need to change credit cards etc. their log in is secure.
