A while back I Had my local Napa mach. shop do a valve job on a set of heads I was planing to use on my 350 eng. I'm planing a farely mild eng. in my 2dr wagon.THe heads are 202 angle plugs ss valves high performance springs from chevy. The first part of the cast number is hard to read. could be389 888 or 889 last part is 1492. Heres the good part now that the heads are all cleaned and done I see that at some point in thease heads life a domed piston has hit the head and dented it there is a small crack that evan with my bad eyes is visable about 3/4 inch long in the combustion area on the far side away from the valves. they never mentioned anytheing about this. The only problem they saw was that the spring pads had been let in for heavy springs and they said that gets them close to the water jacket. So before I approach them with this I'm wondering if it's possible to fix and how hard would it be to find another bare head of this casting?

I know where there is a pair of 202 angle plug heads casting number 14011034. One has a repair the other does not. He went to aluminum heads. If you don't mind the different casting number, if you do care would you be interested in selling the good one you have. Good luck Bob

Just make darn SURE different numbered heads CC the same and you will be fine.

Otherwise, your engines CR. will be different per bank of cylinders and I don't think this is a good thing!!! pdq67
