We found out the hard way. Filled the PS Pump full, ran the engine for awhile, then shut it off.

Power steering fluid everywhere thru the vent hole in the cap!

Jack up the front of the car. Fill the reservoir halfways up and put the cap on, then turn the wheels back and forth. Refill, do it again a couple of times, then fire it up and turn the wheels back and forth a few times. Then fill to the correct level and you're done (this is almost directly out of the directions for the pump I bought a while ago).

The reason why you should only fill halfway up and keep the cap on has already been described by LVMAXX, so I really don't have to admit that I have done it too... :D
