Okay, I've traditionally been a SBC guy and I'm building my first BBC. I'm building my BBC from scratch so I basically started with a bare block. I have the parts to pretty much build the long block as soon as my crank/rod/pistons come back from being balanced. Right now I'm trying to buy all those little parts you need to complete an engine.
Does the BBC use an adaptor plate to mount the fuel pump (like on a SBC) or does the fuel pump simply bolt directly to the block?
I saw some cool no-name polished cast metal valve covers I am considering. They are not incredibly tall but taller than stock which will help clear my roller rockers. While they look pretty nice, they are not as well finished as I had hoped with rough casting showing at the edges and between the ribs. For $100 though I could probably just polish on them some more and have them look great. I'm shooting for a stock-ish or vintage (1965) hot rod look, does anyone else know of any no-brandname ribbed valve covers that are available? Cast is preffered to stamped steel.
