Did 1965 Chevelle have rear seat belts. I believe the front seat belts were an option and was the rear seat belt a differant option. We also believe that 1966 had seat belt option of both front and rear together. Thank you stano

In 65 front belts were standard, but could be deleted as an option. Rear belts were an option. According to this site http://www.connactivity.com/~brown/Chevelle/65.html only 820 buyers opted for the rear belts at $12.95 while 29,864 opted to delete the front belts for $11.00 credit. I don't think people appreciated the safety value of seatbelts much back then. --- Carl

Two friends of mine and I all have 65's. Mine(a 283 non-SS) has front belts but no rears. One of my friends has a 283SS it has no belts whatsoever and appears to never had them. And lastly a buddy who has a 6cylSS(6 banger is long gone) it had belts front and rear at some point, but given the last owner was racing it they were removed the holes are there though.
hope this helps some....
