I bought a Comp Cams timing chain kit for my 350 I thought was out of an 82 Chevy pickup. Turns out it came out of a 1992 Chevy pickup. Will the timing set I bought work with the 1992 block?

It seems to install fine, but there is almost no slack in the timing chain.

It should work fine as long as you are not using a factory type hydraulic roller cam. If it is a double roller chain, take a good look at the "boss" around the middle oil galley plug, just above the camshaft. The double roller chains will usually hit this boss and require a bit of grinding to clear.
