I have stock 462 heads. What is the size of the valve seal I need?
Choices are 5/16 x .531
11/32 x .500
11/32 x .531
3/8 x .531
Which ones do I get?

If the guides are machined for seals, and it has 11/32 valves then you choices narrow to the two 11/32 selection. If the heads are not machined you need a different type of seal. Go to your local machine shop and purchase the seals you need. They will have them in stock, or they should.

jm, Wally is correct. The seals you have listed in your post are what we call "positive" seals, which means that the outside diameter of the valve guide is machined to either .500" or .531". The body of the seal then is pushed down on this machined area to form a positive seal. The 11/32" is the diameter of the seal where it fits over the valve STEM. If your heads are not machined for the positive seals, they would have to be removed from the car, valves removed and machined. Your other option, if the guides are not machined, is to use the stock type "umbrella" seals which install onto the valve stems without any machining.

Bill, yes I will be at the show on Thursday and Friday for sure, undecided about Saturday. We will have a booth there, but I don't spend much time around the booth. Am assuming that you are going? If so, leave me a message at our booth as to where we can hook up, would like to meet you.
