Im in the process of cleaning up my firewall and inner fenders, its all pretty clean right now but im not sure i want all the inside painted. Has anyone painted the firewall or inner engine panels, etc with any of the bedliner coatings or paint-on liners?

I've seen this done. Personally prefer good ol Rustoleum 7777 satin back or equiv.

The bedliner stuff might melt under the hood with the high temps. If you live in a dusty area use a gloss rustoleum so it cleans up easy. Some guys like the flat paints so the motor shows up better.

I wouldn't use the bedliner stuff near the exsh system.....rubber coating & heat don't get play well togather  I use restoleum flat black on all sheet metal parts & simi gloss on brackets & pullys & other small detail parts.... makes a NICE contrast :D also shows off the fact you took the time to take it apart & paint.. not just did the spray can OVERHAUL graemlins/sad.gif I've seen to many what would be nice cars that were painted after they were put togather & I don't like the look (just my 2 cents)

BTW, if anyone has a better solution than the one I found by happenstance - many claim the matte finishes are hard to clean with streaking and all. I have found it to be true. One night, while prepping things for paint, I just cleaned the inners with alcohol.
NO NOT MAKER's MARK, rubbing alcohol. Seems to clean very very well without streaking. With a clean cloth.

i used Duplicolor 500degree resistant black ceramic paint. two cans should do it, only about $9 for both. i just wash it with the hose, all the dust seems to come off

I sprayed rubber undercoating all over the bottom of the car and on the lower portion of the firewall. It is far enough from the engine so that it wont melt. But the rest of the firewall (the part thats in view when the hood is popped at shows) is painted with high temp black paint.

If you go to the trouble of cleaning the compartment up, then spray it with GM restoration black. Strong toluene based product with carbon black pigment and talk to fill in imperfections. It's a satin finish and wears well.

i've got the flat black that came on the new inner fenders. i guess that's close to the factory color and sheen. i'm going to change it to high gloss black whenever the engine has to come out. i've seen the underside of the hood painted to match car color and the rest (inner fenders and fire wall) painted whit this hi gloss black and it looks great. i painted my frame with por 15 and i'm disapointed to say that not only brake fluid but power steering fluid both ate into it? it's all personal preference
