hey guys, just wanna little input, im building this 502 and the shortblock will be close if not exactu zz502 specs.. now im thinking heads, i have a set of 049's on my 454 i could use.. but would they breathe enough? i've thought of buying some factory heads newer style but don't know what castings are good and will work on this gen VI block.. ebay is pretty cheap on heads, and for the cost of freshening mine, i could buy a set already done and sell mine on my 454 running complete.. what yall think?

my buddy chuck has a 66 rag with a ZZ502 and a PG... stock it went 11.54 at 115... over last winter did a new solid cam and a single plane, some suspension stuff and the car has gone 10.83 at 123.4MPH... I know there are some that will down the stock Alum heads but if you flow them on the bench and design a cam to work them they arent too bad in a 3777 LB car... car weighed 3640 on the 10.83 pass. Some people are selling the stock zz502 heads when they go 540 so they arent o too hard to find at a good price..

Thats my 2 cents...

ummmmm.... where are you finding them at a good price??? i've been searching for zz502 parts for 2 months... they use to be a dime a dozen for pistons/rods/cams etc.. now they are no where to be found.. and the couple sets i've found sell for new price nearly. which is outta my budget for now anyway..
