Call all the chevy dealers in your area and get their prices (goodwrench engines are not GMPP so any dealer should be able to get/sell you one)- they will all give you different prices- so pick whichever one you want to deal with(or whichever is cheapest)

Dean, Be sure your not just shopping price or you might be in for a rude awakening. Goodwrench crate engines come in a variety of horse power ratings and many times you will see ads for $1099. and they are referring to the very low HP. rated engine.

Find out what the part number/price is you want and go to any local GM dealer and make them an offer. You might be suprised. I bought one Chevy 350 from the local Pontiac dealer.

Local prices are usually higher that Scoggin Dickey and the likes, but the local Chevy dealer here has matched the lowest advertised price I could find. I've bought several crate engines locally and didn't have to worry about any shipping charges either.

I bought an 88-95 GM 350 TBI 4 bolt main. for my 88 Jimmy.

Cost was $1850 with shipping included, back in Sept.

If they still have the same deal with shipping, you will not find a better deal.

I just checked to see what it is now.
Its now $2050, but the same free shipping if delivered to a business with an unloading dock. Im sure you know somewhere that you can accomplish this.

This is GM PART # 12520270

Isn't the Goodwrench engine the bottom of the line one, but it still has four bolt mains and a cast crank??? pdq67

Just like AHSOM70 said, call all the GM dealers within driving distance from you. Shop around, you should not have to pay LIST price for it.

Buying from a local dealer will save you the shipping cost!!!

That's what I did for my 454/425 and saved several hundred $$$

Thanks for all the replys guys. I have called several local dealers (california) and they charge $1799 for the engine. Add the tax and it is now $1950 + core. I guess I have been out of this awhile. They used to be much cheaper. I checked Jim Pace. They are in the $1500 range, but the shipping puts it right back up to the local price. I will see if the local dealer can match the price.

thanks again,
Dean

Time out,if they want to charge you for a core they are just trying to up the old profit margin, the NEW GM crate motors have no core.

SCCA, every place I called or looked at on the web is charging a core charge. I asked one of the dealers about this since it is a new engine. His response was that GM was wanting to build up a core bank so they could begin a rebuild program in the future.

That's kinda interesting... by buying a large number of cores, GM is effectively removing them from the market. If the cores aren't available for rebuilding, then one would need to buy a crate engine. Interesting.
