Thought some may like to see this Yenko Chevelle that was said to have the Camaro rear spoiler installed by Yenko along with some other aftermarket items.

It's a low mile mostly unrestored car

Now I know why we don't see more with a spoiler. That really looks terrible, IMO. Might be more acceptable if it actually FIT the decklid.

That would look really cool if it was a little wider, and fit properly.

Completely agree. It doesn't match the lines or shape of the car. I think I might like this type of spoiler more than what you'd find on a BOP A-body car, but still, it doesn't fit. The picture of the rear end from straight on almost made me hurl...but that is mostly because I DO NOT like the taillights at all, so compounded with a ill-fitting spoiler, makes for a terrible eyesore.

The car is beautiful until you get to the spoiler. That looks cheap.

That spoiler was installed by a previous owner, since it was the original lid it was never removed.

I remember this car from about 20 years ago when it was in the Otis Chandler collection.
It was in muscle car books and magazine articles and was said to have had the spoiler put on by Yenko. This may not be true as I did see pictures of this car with mag wheels, a big hood scoop, and some sort of custom grill.

It looks like the custom grill was replaced by a non SS grill and no bowtie center emblem but the car looks pretty much the same as it appeared in the 1990 American Muscle Book.

I saw it at a show about 10 years ago and was said to be mostly original paint and was original stripes and original interior.

It is a very nice Yenko Chevelle.
I would remove the spoiler (if it was not Yenko installed), correct shift ball, and fix the grill but those are just minor changes.

If this were my car, that ill fitting spoiler would be gone. I lived the '60s and no self respecting musclecar guy would do that to his car. After 1970, we pretty well gave up on the new car scene. Have to admit, I did like the Laguna Chevelles. Nice dash layout and swivel buckets.

That is funny, because I have a rear spoiler added on my 69 chevelle and it's welded and molded on my trunk over 30 years ago. It's shape just like the pics.:D
What is strange is i'm having my chevelle repainted with Yenko Strips w/o the yenko logo next year.

ok not to change the subject but what year/make/model does that automatic floor shifter come from.looks to me like a olds dualgate shifter but i am not 100% sure.anyone?

oh ya love the yenko but hate the look of the rear spoiler.......

That is the aftermarket Hurst duel gate his/her shifter. It was designed as a floor conversion shifter and sold in the speed shops.

It is similar to the Hurst duel gate used in many GTO and Olds factory console applications but has taller brackets that bolt to the floor and has its own plastic console.

Most Yenko Chevelle's auto trans were column shift then Yenko installed this Hurst floor conversion shifter.

It was also used in some of the Hurst Olds cars and Hemi Dart/Baracuda and was used by Motion Nickey Harrell and other performace shops back in the day.

It should have a black shifter ball not the white one shown on this car.

You can pull it straight down like a normal AT shifter or flip open a spring loaded chrome door to access the ratchet shifter gate

found a pic of it with the wheels and hood scoop.

This has to be from at least before 1990 as it is in the 1990 book as it looks today.

If I remember correctly, it also had some sort of custom grill.

I seen this car in person a few of years ago.his collection is about 30 miles away.this car didn't have a custom grill or scoop on it at that time.I do remember the spoiler hit the rear antenna when the deck lid came all the way up and it had some type of bullet style mirror on it.I bought one off of eBay just like it and it showed 69 chevy but never seen a car with one on it.this guy had a great collection of cars and I know he took a lot of them to mecum last year or the year before.is the owner of the car from Missouri still? in about 2005 it was part of a 5 car Yenko collection that sold for about $1.7M according to one of the auction web sites

The scoop, wheels, and custom grill were not on it in the 1990 photos. The chrome bullet mirror is still on it. That is what made me think the spoiler may have been installed by Yenko because that chrome mirror was a Yenko accessory. The mirror could be only a coincidence because it was also sold in sports car mail order parts catologs so it and the spolier may have been installed day2 by the owner.

The lines of a Chevelle never needed a spoiler, or a fromt air dam. Not back in the day, not now. JMO:)

Wow, if this is a real Yenko, sounds like some of you guys know that it is; whoever molested it by screwing with the grill and put the horrid spoiler on it should have a can of whoop ass delivered to him.
The spoiler doesn't even look alittle right.
A GTO spoiler would look thousands of times better....hmmm it might even look kick-ass, but it still would not belong on an original Yenko.

I agree.....looks like crap. You can see daylight under the spoiler in areas. I've seen another Yenko with what appears to be the same this spoiler. Need to find more pics of this car to tell for sure.

Can't see the entire spoiler but it's there.
