I just recently purchased new carpet and carpet underlay for my 72 Chevelle. Upon ripping my old stuff out, I found out that my old underlay ain't that terribly bad. Would it be of any advantage to keep that in there and put the new stuff on top? Or is that a stupid idea? Any opinions? Thanks

sometimes if you get too much under the carpet some of the screws and bots are too short. I had this problem with my floor shifter, but I just bought new screws. the thicker the insulator the better I think. it makes it nice and quiet inside.

It should be OK, Just don't put much around the bolt holes. Put more on the pans. If you are going to race, consider the extra weight.
