: Dissappearing posts?
toofastforyou Aug 31st, 11, 9:52 AM I'm wondering why the posts I write show up for only a couple of days and then disseappear? I'm also a member on some other sites and the posts are available anytime I want to go back and read them, but here, I never know if a post I wrote a few days ago will still be there or not...Why?
Claude.
Dean Aug 31st, 11, 9:59 AM They more than likely are still there, you just don't know how to find them.
Seems that has always been the case when someone says "my post is gone"
Which one(s)?

Highway Star Aug 31st, 11, 10:08 AM I think Dean's link goes to nowhere, but he was trying to show you that they're all still here. I clicked on your screenname in your post above, a drop-down appeared, and I clicked on "show all posts by..." and TC pulled up a 3 page list of your posts...likely showing all 60 of them.
Dean Aug 31st, 11, 10:25 AM I think Dean's link goes to nowhere,
Does it?
I never know how much of what I can see, can be seen by other folks.
The link takes me to a list of all of his previous posts.

Mike Aug 31st, 11, 11:43 AM Claude ,pick one - http://www.chevelles.com/forums/search.php?searchid=7165854
Post's here don't remain stationary.
As newer posts show up ,the older ones move down the page and when the page get's full ,a second ,third ,fourth ,etc page gets generated.
In busy forums ,it may only take a few hours for a post to reach page two.

DaleM Aug 31st, 11, 3:35 PM There is a system default for how long threads are visible. I don't know what that is here but you can override it to some extent.
1. Click the User CP link.
2. Under Settings & Options click Edit Options.
3. Look under Thread Display Options
4. The last item is Default Thread Age Cut Off with a drop down box where you can select a timeframe. I have mine set to "Show threads from last 10 days" selected but there is a plethora of timeframes to choose from anywhere from "Show threads from last day" to "Show all threads."
